Quantitative analysis and models have rapidly pervaded financial markets and the investment management industry over the past quarter century. Without these tools, the explosive growth in the derivative and asset-backed securities markets, the introduction of new portfolio management techniques and trading strategies, all of which have revolutionized world financial markets, would hardly have been possible. Despite their widespread use, however, the tools of quantitative investment analysis are truly accessible to a relatively small number of market professionals. Our goal is to help newcomers to financial markets to understand concepts and basic math behind current quantitative methods and empower them with tools necessary for reaching successful investment decisions.
